Disappointed
Audio / Produced by The High CallingTranscript
It made no sense. Jim had worked at the company longer. He worked hard. And another guy gets promoted! What a blow. Jim gave himself time to stew … and, yes, he indulged in self-pity. Then he consulted a wise friend.
Jim set an appointment with his manager. In that meeting, Jim outlined his work and experience. He described how he understood company policy and the new position. He explained why he wanted it and his surprise at being passed over.
This is Howard Butt, Jr., of Laity Lodge. Jim’s manager listened with no apology, and Jim returned to work. Months later, when another position opened, his manager rewarded Jim’s model response … in the high calling of our daily work.
They cried to you and were saved;
in you they trusted and were not disappointed.
Psalm 22:5
