Give It Time: Keep Doing Your Best
Audio / Produced by The High CallingTranscript
Boyd knew two things: he knew that Harry was the firm’s best employee . . . and he knew he wasn’t. Harry was a 20-year company man. He still topped the sales contests, won awards, and took the prizes.
One day Boyd asked the obvious. “Harry,” he said, “if a guy wants to be where you are—what does he do to get there?” Harry smiled. He said, “Boyd, it’s simple. You start where you are, and for the next 20 years, do your very best.”
This is Howard Butt, Jr., of Laity Lodge. If you’re willing to do—and be—your best, then keep it up . . . and give it time . . . in the high calling of our daily work.
