Educated in London and living a life of privilege, Christiane, along with her family, fled Iran in 1979 after the fall of the Shah, and she was forced to support herself. So she studied journalism, first in London, then in America. Eventually, she joined CNN in an entry-level job.
Under her first boss, Christiane faced ridicule and mistreatment, but she stuck it out. She worked her way up to producer, field producer, and finally, to reporter. Now, as a leading CNN foreign correspondent, Christiane Amanpour covers some of the world's most dangerous conflicts.
This is Howard Butt, Jr., of Laity Lodge. Circumstances didn't deter Christiane, and they shouldn't deter us. Purpose and determination pave the road to success—in the high calling of our daily work.
But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.
